Pivotal Construction is seeking an experienced and driven Ground-Up Superintendent to join our growing team. This position is responsible for overseeing and managing industrial and tilt-up construction projects from start to finish while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day onsite construction activities for ground-up industrial and tilt-up projects
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspections, and project schedules
- Maintain project safety standards and ensure OSHA compliance
- Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and project documents
- Monitor quality control and ensure work meets company and client expectations
- Communicate effectively with Project Managers, clients, inspectors, architects, engineers, and subcontractors
- Identify and resolve field issues proactively to maintain project momentum
- Maintain accurate daily logs and project documentation
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Oversee site logistics, sequencing, and coordination of tilt-up concrete operations
- Support and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, and trade partners
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial ground-up construction projects
- Strong experience managing industrial and tilt-up construction projects required
- Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, scheduling, concrete operations, and safety regulations
- Experience managing warehouse, manufacturing, distribution, or large-scale commercial projects preferred
- Ability to manage multiple trades while maintaining project schedules and quality standards
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in construction technology and project management software preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

Matt Terlau brings over 25 years of construction experience, including more than 15 years in field leadership roles, providing a deep operational and practical foundation that shapes his leadership as Owner and CEO of Pivotal Construction. His extensive background as a superintendent gives him a strong command of constructibility, project sequencing, scheduling, cost control, estimating, and field operations, allowing him to lead projects with a comprehensive understanding of both day-to-day execution and overall project strategy.
Throughout his career, Matt has led a diverse portfolio of commercial and industrial projects, including hospitality, industrial, multifamily, retail, restaurant, medical, tenant improvement, and structural steel construction. In addition to field leadership, he has significant experience in preconstruction and estimating, including conceptual budgeting, competitive bidding, scope analysis, subcontractor coordination, value engineering, and cost forecasting. His ability to evaluate project costs early in the process and align budgets with constructible solutions has been instrumental in delivering successful projects and maintaining strong client confidence.
Matt has successfully overseen projects from preconstruction through closeout, driving operational efficiency, accountability, and quality across every phase of construction. He is highly experienced in developing project processes, operational procedures, and team structures that support consistent execution and scalable growth.
His leadership style emphasizes collaboration, communication, and proactive problem-solving, enabling strong partnerships between owners, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams. His background includes leading operational strategy, project execution, and process development for healthcare, pharmacy, administrative, data center, and industrial facilities, with oversight spanning hundreds of locations nationwide.
Rajesh has extensive experience managing tenant improvement and ground-up industrial construction projects, overseeing operational workflows from planning and coordination through execution and delivery. He has successfully led large-scale operational and infrastructure initiatives, driving consistency, efficiency, and accountability across diverse portfolios and project teams.
His expertise includes developing and implementing operational processes, procedures, and standards that improve performance, streamline workflows, and support scalable growth. Rajesh has managed facility operations, capital and operating budgets, vendor and service provider contracts, and cross-functional project coordination across multiple regions. He is known for building high-performing teams, strengthening operational systems, and delivering reliable, high-quality outcomes in fast-paced environments.
